What to Actually Bring Home from Seoul

Past the generic keychains and magnets, Seoul has genuinely good, specific things worth bringing home.

Skincare and cosmetics

Korean skincare is a legitimate reason some people plan a Seoul trip around shopping — sheet masks, cushion foundations, and cleansing balms from Myeongdong's beauty flagships (see our Myeongdong guide) are consistently good value compared to international retail prices for the same brands.

Traditional crafts

Food gifts

Packaged Korean snacks, instant ramen varieties not available internationally, and gift-boxed traditional sweets (hangwa) travel well and are genuinely appreciated gifts — convenience stores and department store food halls (see our malls guide) are both good sources.

K-pop and pop culture merchandise

Official agency stores and multi-brand K-pop retail spots (concentrated in Myeongdong and Hongdae) are the safest bet for authentic merchandise over street-market versions, which vary widely in legitimacy.

Tip: Duty-free shopping (available at the airport and at dedicated downtown duty-free stores) can be worth it for larger cosmetics or luxury purchases — compare downtown duty-free prices against Myeongdong retail before assuming duty-free is automatically cheaper.
