These itineraries assume you land in the morning or early afternoon and lean on the subway rather than taxis for most moves — see our getting around guide if you haven't used it before. Each day is intentionally light on the number of stops; Seoul rewards depth over a checklist.
3 days in Seoul
- Day 1 — Old Seoul: Gyeongbokgung, Bukchon Hanok Village, Insadong. Consider renting a hanbok for free palace entry and better photos.
- Day 2 — Shopping and skyline: Myeongdong in the morning for shopping and skincare, N Seoul Tower at sunset.
- Day 3 — Pick your energy: Gangnam for polish and nightlife, or Hongdae for a younger, artsier evening.
5 days in Seoul
Everything from the 3-day plan, plus:
- Day 4 — A day trip: the DMZ, Nami Island, or Suwon, depending on what interests you most.
- Day 5 — Food and a neighborhood you skipped: spend the morning at Gwangjang Market eating your way through it, then explore Seongsu-dong or Itaewon in the afternoon.
7 days in Seoul
Everything from the 5-day plan, plus:
- Day 6 — Deeper history: the royal tombs or Seodaemun, followed by a jjimjilbang evening to recover.
- Day 7 — Whatever you liked most: by this point you'll know which neighborhood you want to see again, or which day trip you want a second look at — this is the day to follow that instinct rather than force in something new.
Just one day: a layover or stopover plan
If you only have a single day — a long layover or a short stopover — don't try to compress the full 3-day plan into it. Pick one area and go deep: Gyeongbokgung plus Bukchon covers history and atmosphere in a walkable cluster, or Myeongdong plus N Seoul Tower covers shopping, food, and a skyline view without much travel time between stops. Both are close enough to Incheon and Gimpo airports to be realistic even with luggage in tow — see our getting to Seoul guide for transit times.
Adjusting for winter or a shorter trip
A winter itinerary follows the same shape but trades outdoor day trips for more museums, cafes, and jjimjilbang time — see our best time to visit guide for what each season actually feels like.
