Bitseom's final weekend: plan a Nodeul Island light-art night before 11 October

Seoul's waterfront light-art festival has three evenings left. For visitors in the city on 9–11 October, Nodeul Island offers a specific night out rather than another vague autumn-events recommendation.

The useful dates: 9–11 October, not the rest of autumn

The 2026 Seoul Light Hangang Bitseom Festival runs from 2 to 11 October at Nodeul Island. Its advertised daily viewing hours are 18:30–22:30. As of this report on Friday 9 October, the remaining evenings are Friday, Saturday and Sunday; Sunday 11 October is the closing date. These are Seoul local times, Korea Standard Time (UTC+9).

That distinction matters if you are arriving next week. This particular laser-art event will have finished, even though other Hangang festivals continue later in October. Visitors already in Seoul can still make it an evening anchor, while anyone planning a later trip should choose a different dated programme rather than relying on a generic autumn festival listing.

One island, with outdoor and indoor work

The 2026 venue is Nodeul Island, not a circuit requiring you to visit several riverside parks. The official theme is Rhapsody of Light. Seoul's city listing describes outdoor laser and media-art installations alongside indoor kinetic, installation, video and audiovisual work. That gives the evening more variety than simply waiting for one short sky display.

Bitseom is also a different event from the Hangang drone-light show. Do not use a drone-show timetable or a Ttukseom meeting point for this visit. Search for Nodeul Island and the Bitseom programme together, save the actual venue pin, and keep the event's official page accessible on your phone. The festival organiser gives the Korean address as 445–446 Yangnyeong-ro, Yongsan-gu.

Free viewing does not mean every programme is walk-in

The organiser's published visitor terms state that festival viewing is free. They also say programmes requiring advance reservation must be booked through the advertised process. Treat these as two separate questions: you can plan to view the festival without budgeting a general admission ticket, but should check whether a particular performance or activity needs a reservation.

A broad free-admission statement is not proof that there are unlimited seats, that every indoor space admits everybody immediately, or that every optional experience is included. If there is one programme you particularly want, check its booking page before you leave your accommodation. A casual art-viewing evening is a more flexible plan than promising your group a specific performance seat.

Closing-weekend performances: check the individual listing

The city's programme lists a lighting fashion show and Light of Companionship events on 9 October, another Light of Companionship performance on 10 October, and a closing performance on 11 October. These can help you choose an evening, but the organiser and city publish programme summaries at different levels of detail.

Use the individual programme and reservation notice for the session you want, rather than treating an overview time as a guaranteed start for every act. The city expressly says schedules may change. If your visit is built around a performance, arrive with time for entry arrangements and a separate plan for seeing the art; the overall 18:30–22:30 viewing window should not be mistaken for an uninterrupted four-hour stage concert.

Public transport: the station and the island are different stops

Seoul's directions identify Nodeul Station on subway Line 9, Exit 2, with an approximately 700-metre walk towards Hangang Bridge. Allow time for that final walk rather than planning to step off the train directly into the installations. Save the walking route in a mapping app and check the exit before beginning your journey.

An alternative is to travel through Yongsan or Sinyongsan and use the bus connection described on the city event page. The listed island bus stop is Nodeul Island, stop 03-340. For a visitor unfamiliar with Korean bus directions, checking the stop and destination before boarding is more useful than memorising a long list of route numbers. Use a current journey planner for departures and the return journey.

The advertised shuttle finishes before the art does

The city's event directions describe a shuttle connecting Sinyongsan Station Exit 4, Nodeul Island, Nodeul Station Exit 2 and Noryangjin Station Exit 3, at roughly 15-minute intervals between 18:00 and 22:00. This is an advertised event service, not a promise that you will board immediately or that the same arrangements survive every operational change.

The important planning gap is the half hour between the published 22:00 shuttle end and 22:30 festival closing. If you stay until the last viewing period, have a public-transport alternative ready instead of assuming the shuttle will still be running. Check any updated shuttle notice on the day. Families and groups with limited walking tolerance should settle the return plan before entering, while everybody is together.

A sensible evening plan for visitors

Choose one evening and make Nodeul Island the main after-dark stop. Eat beforehand or leave space for a meal elsewhere, travel with enough time for the station-to-island connection, and decide which programme matters most before joining a queue. This is planning advice, not a claim about the availability or price of festival food stalls.

Keep some of the evening unallocated. Trying to combine several distant riverside venues can turn a short Seoul visit into a succession of transfers, especially when a performance fixes your arrival time. A charged phone, a light layer suited to the forecast and a saved return route are more useful than an overpacked checklist. If travelling with children or someone who tires easily, pick a meeting point and an earlier departure option.

Weather, accessibility and what to recheck

The organiser's terms allow changes or cancellations for bad weather and safety reasons. Check the official notices shortly before travelling; this report does not certify tonight's weather or guarantee every installation is operating. Do not assume an indoor component means the entire evening is protected from weather, because the festival also uses outdoor island spaces.

Likewise, an approximately 700-metre walk is not a verified accessible-route assessment. If stairs, surfaces, crowds or mobility assistance affect your visit, ask the venue or organiser about the exact entrance and route you intend to use. Resolve those details before committing to a timed performance. The organiser lists its operating office telephone as 02-790-7555; use the current website for contact and programme updates.

How this report was checked

Dates, overall hours and venue were cross-checked against Seoul Metropolitan Government's English festival listing and the festival organiser's current website on 9 October 2026. Free viewing and reservation caveats come from the organiser's visitor terms. Walking, bus and shuttle information comes from the city listing; operational notices should take precedence if they change.

The story's publication date is 9 October. The event began on 2 October; publishing a final-weekend guide does not mean it opens today. After 11 October, retain this report as dated festival coverage rather than treating it as a current invitation. The links below are the places to recheck before you go.
