What's actually here
Jamsil anchors around Lotte World (see our theme park guide) and Lotte World Tower, one of the tallest buildings in the world, with an observation deck and a large attached mall complex. The district also borders a section of Han River park and Seokchon Lake, a public lake park that draws huge crowds during its spring cherry blossom festival.
What to actually do here
- Lotte World Tower Seoul Sky — an observation deck considerably higher than N Seoul Tower's, with correspondingly higher ticket prices.
- Seokchon Lake — a scenic public lake walk, spectacular during cherry blossom season and home to a giant rubber duck installation that periodically returns as a public art piece.
- Han River Park (Jamsil section) — quieter than the Yeouido or Banpo sections; see our Han River parks guide.
- Olympic Park — a large park nearby built for the 1988 Seoul Olympics, with sculpture gardens and ancient earthen fortress remains within its grounds.
Should you visit
Strong pick for a single "big day out" — especially with kids or if a theme park is already on your list — but it's more of a destination day than a neighborhood to wander casually. It's well connected by subway (Line 2 and Line 8), so it's an easy add rather than a logistics headache.
