Lotte World vs Everland: Which Theme Park to Pick

Korea's two big theme parks serve different trips: one is a subway ride from central Seoul, the other is a genuine day-trip commitment.

Lotte World — the in-city option

Located in Jamsil and directly connected to the subway, Lotte World combines a large indoor theme park (useful in bad weather or extreme heat) with an outdoor section and an adjacent lake-park area. Its convenience is the main draw — you can fit it into a Seoul day without the logistics of leaving the city.

Everland — the bigger, further option

Korea's largest theme park, located about an hour outside Seoul, with a considerably bigger footprint than Lotte World — more rides, a safari-style zoo section, and seasonal attractions like tulip festivals and winter illuminations. It requires more of a day-trip commitment (shuttle bus or a longer transit journey) but delivers a more complete theme-park day for it.

Should you go at all

Neither is essential on a short first trip focused on history and food, but both are genuinely popular with domestic visitors too — not purely a tourist-trap experience. Families and theme park enthusiasts should prioritize one; a short culture-and-food-focused itinerary can reasonably skip both.
