Mapo Bridge carries a well-known, if sobering, reputation tied to a public mental health initiative featuring supportive messages and lighting along its pedestrian sections — worth knowing about as context if you notice the unusual signage while crossing.
Dongjak and Hannam Bridges
Less famous individually, but both offer strong, less-crowded skyline views at night, particularly toward the Gangnam side skyline — a good alternative if Banpo's fountain crowds aren't your scene.
How to actually experience them
Most of Seoul's Han River parks (see our dedicated guide) run directly beneath or beside these bridges, so a riverside walk or bike ride is the natural way to take them in rather than treating any single bridge as a dedicated destination. Evening is consistently the better time, when lighting displays are active and the heat of the day has passed.
