What's actually here
Yongsan has quietly become one of Seoul's more consequential districts: the National Museum of Korea (see our museums guide) and the War Memorial of Korea sit within it, alongside Yongsan Electronics Market, a sprawling multi-building complex historically considered one of Asia's major electronics retail hubs. More recently, land previously occupied by a long-standing military garrison has been progressively converted into Yongsan Family Park and is planned to expand further into a much larger public park in the coming years.
What to actually do here
- National Museum of Korea — one of the largest museums in the world by exhibition space, with free general admission.
- Yongsan Electronics Market — dense, wholesale-driven electronics shopping; less essential for casual visitors than serious electronics buyers, but a genuinely distinctive browse even if you're not purchasing.
- Yongsan Family Park — a large, relatively new green space, good for a break between museum visits.

Should you visit
Worth a half-day if the National Museum is on your list, which it reasonably should be for anyone interested in Korean history beyond the palaces. Electronics shopping is a niche add for most visitors but genuinely worthwhile for anyone specifically in the market for it.
